Welcome to Matchy.gg. These Terms of Service ("Terms") are an agreement between you and FORTY4TURES LLC, 8735 DUNWOODY PLACE STE N, ATLANTA, GA, 30350 ("Matchy", "we", "us"), the operator of the website matchy.gg and the Matchy iOS app. By creating an account or using Matchy you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the service.
1. What Matchy Is
Matchy is a matchmaking service for gamers — not a dating service. It connects people who share games, playstyles and play times so they can play together. Compatibility is calculated from your public Steam game data and the preferences you set.
2. Eligibility and Age
You must be at least 18 years old. We check your age when you sign up and, on iOS where the law requires it, with Apple's age range feature. Accounts that fail the age check are locked, and accounts found to belong to minors are deleted. You also need a valid Steam account in good standing. You may have only one Matchy account per Steam account.
3. Your Account
You sign in through Steam on Steam's own page; we never see or store your Steam password. You are responsible for keeping your Steam account secure and for all activity on your Matchy account.
4. Your Content
We have zero tolerance for objectionable content and abusive users. You are responsible for your profile information, your "Ready to play" notes and the messages you send. You must not:
- provide false information or misrepresent your identity or age;
- post or send offensive, hateful, sexually explicit, violent, threatening or illegal content;
- impersonate another person or organisation;
- use Matchy for advertising, solicitation or any commercial purpose.
Offensive language is filtered automatically: profile text containing it cannot be saved, and it is masked in messages and display names. Your Steam avatar and display name come from Steam. You keep ownership of your content; you give us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to host, store, display and transmit it only as needed to operate Matchy (for example to show your profile to other users and to deliver your messages). This licence ends when you delete the content or your account, except for copies we must keep under our Privacy Policy. We may remove any content that breaks these Terms without notice.
5. Matching, Messages and Contact Details
When two users like each other, a match is created and you can message each other. Messages are visible to the two of you; if one of you reports the other, our moderators can read the reported conversation. When a match is removed or a user is blocked, the conversation disappears for both of you; a copy is kept for 30 days only so that it can be reviewed if a report follows.
After a match, both users' Discord username (if added) and Steam profile link are shown to each other. You are solely responsible for interactions that happen outside Matchy.
6. Acceptable Use
You must not use Matchy to:
- harass, bully, threaten, stalk or harm other users;
- send spam, unsolicited messages or commercial content;
- ask other users for money, gifts, account details or financial information;
- scrape, crawl or collect data from Matchy by automated means;
- reverse-engineer, hack, overload or interfere with Matchy or with Steam;
- create fake or bot accounts (except authorized platform bots);
- do anything illegal.
7. Blocking, Reporting and Moderation
You can block any user at any time; you will no longer see each other. You can report users and content from their profile, from the conversation, and from your list of blocked accounts. A report includes a copy of your recent conversation with that person for our moderators.
We review reports within 24 hours and act on content and users that break these Terms — including removing the content and suspending or banning the user who posted it.
8. Ending Your Account
You can delete your account at any time in the app or on the website (Settings → Delete account). Deletion permanently removes your profile, matches, messages and activity as described in our Privacy Policy. We may suspend or terminate accounts that break these Terms, endanger other users, or where the law requires.
9. Steam Data and Valve
Matchy uses Steam sign-in and the Steam Web API. Data shown from Steam (names, avatars, games, playtime, levels, ban status) is provided "as is", may be incomplete or out of date, and comes without any warranty from us or from Valve. Matchy is not affiliated with, endorsed, or sponsored by Valve Corporation or Steam. Steam and the Steam logo are trademarks and/or registered trademarks of Valve Corporation in the U.S. and/or other countries. Game names and artwork belong to their respective owners.
10. The iOS App
If you use the Matchy iOS app, Apple's Standard Licensed Application End User License Agreement also applies. These Terms are between you and us, not Apple; Apple is not responsible for the app or its content and has no obligation to provide support for it.
11. Disclaimer
Matchy is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind. We do not guarantee that you will find a match, that the service will be uninterrupted or error-free, or that connections made through Matchy will be successful. We are not responsible for the conduct of users on or off the platform.
12. Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special or consequential damages arising from your use of Matchy, including interactions with other users. Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, or your rights as a consumer.
13. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms. The date at the top shows the current version. If we make material changes, we will ask you to accept the updated Terms in the app or on the website before you continue using Matchy.
14. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the United States, without prejudice to the mandatory consumer protection laws of the country where you live.
